The Family Business Dividend: The FBU Community Giving Index
Family businesses have always given back. They sponsor the local football team, fund the school minibus, support the hospice appeal and step in when a neighbour needs help. They rarely shout about it, so the full scale of that generosity has never been counted.
The Family Dividend sets out to change that. Family Business United is inviting family firms across the UK to share how much cash and cash equivalent they donate each year to good causes in the communities where they live and work. We will bring those figures together in the FBU Community Giving Index, the first measure of the money family businesses put back into the places they call home.
The aim is simple: to show, in pounds and pence, the difference family firms make beyond the balance sheet. That evidence will help policymakers, the media and the public see why family businesses matter, and why the conditions that let them invest for generations deserve protecting.
