The Family Business Road Trip is an annual nationwide initiative led by Family Business United that shines a spotlight on the people, stories and achievements behind family-owned businesses across the UK. Each year, the team travels thousands of miles visiting family firms of all sizes and sectors, going behind the scenes to learn more about their history, values, innovation and plans for the future.

Through business visits, interviews, photography, video and live social media coverage, the Road Trip celebrates the vital contribution family businesses make to local communities, regional economies and the wider UK economy. It also creates opportunities for connection, collaboration and shared learning, helping to raise the profile of family firms, inspire future generations and champion the sector on a national stage.

Travelling around the country in a sponsored car the Family Business Road Trip is a real journey of discovery as we get behind the scenes of some great family firms, see what they do and where they do it and shine a spotlight on what the family business sector is all about.

 

Each year we visit dozens of family businesses in a car provided by Hendy Group, meeting family business owners and hearing first hand their journey.  The whole event celebrates the family business sector on social media, amplifying the noise around the sector with subsequent features and content from the trip used to further showcase the significant contribution family firms make to the UK economy.

The 2027 Family Business Road Trip will be taking place from April 5 to May 14.
