Hendy Group First To Launch New Range Of Kia Vans In Portsmouth

The innovative new range of electric vans from Kia will be available to customers across the Portsmouth area via the Hendy Kia dealership on Southampton Road. With a launch scheduled for November, the site has been chosen as a dedicated ‘PBV Centre’, making it the only dealer in the city to offer Kia’s new range of modular vans for cargo and passenger use.

‘Platform Beyond Vehicle’ (PBV) refers to Kia’s range of functional vehicles, all of which are built on the same innovative platform – the vehicle’s ‘base’ – with different modular structures on top. This means that the PBV range will ultimately cover a variety of applications, from family-friendly people carriers, taxis, refrigerated cargo vans and food trucks to Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs), and more.

Pre-orders are now open for the first models, the PV5 CARGO and the PV5 PASSENGER. The PV5 CARGO is Kia’s first fully electric commercial vehicle and is available as a three- or four-door version. It benefits from the lowest rear loading height in the segment and 5.1m3 of cargo volume, enough for two full-sized ‘euro’ pallets.

The PV5 PASSENGER offers spacious seating for either five or seven people and, with customisable storage options and low step access, it can meet the needs of even large families.

The PBV Centre will share the Portsmouth showroom with the existing Kia passenger car line-up, and will be equipped with dedicated PBV facilities and specialist resources to support customers quickly and efficiently. This includes a sales area with display units, a service reception, a dedicated workshop with high-capacity vehicle ramps, and specialist Kia equipment and tools.

Paul Hendy, Chief Executive at Hendy Group, said: “We have represented Kia across the south of England for nineteen years and welcome the opportunity to grow with the brand and extend our line-up of Kia models."

"The success of Kia across Portsmouth and further afield makes us confident that the new PBV range will continue this trajectory, and we’re pleased to be recognised for our expertise and ability to serve commercial vehicle customers, and support local businesses.”

All PBV vehicles will come with Kia’s seven-year warranty as standard.
