Givin' It Laldie Strikes A Chord With Allied Vehicles

A Gorbals-based community music charity has been awarded £3,300 by the Allied Vehicles Charitable Trust. This funding will support the Givin It Laldie's Youth Music Programme, which aims to engage young people in the Gorbals through a variety of musical activities.

The Youth Music Programme forms the basis of Givin' It Laldie’s efforts to bring together young people from diverse backgrounds, fostering creativity and community spirit.

The programme consists of Kids’ Choir, Kids’ Guitar and the Tune Room, and offers opportunities for participants to learn instruments, join bands, and explore music production, all within a supportive environment designed to boost confidence, improve mental health, and develop valuable life skills.

“The Kids’ Choir helps you feel better. They help you to cheer up, smile better, have fun and express your feelings,” exclaimed one young member of the Kids Choir club.

Clare McBrien, Manager at Givin' It Laldie, expressed her excitement about the funding, stating,

"We are delighted to receive funding from Allied Vehicles Charitable Trust. Their donation will support us to work with young people in the Gorbals to bring their musical aspirations to life!"

“Whether it's playing bass in a band for the first time, learning how to play guitar or producing their favourite song on GarageBand, we will support them to make friends, learn new things, increase their confidence, improve their mental health, and gain new skills to take into other areas of their life.”

David Facenna, Corporate Culture Director at Allied Vehicles and a keen musician himself, shared his thoughts on the initiative:

"As someone who understands the joy and confidence that music can bring, I’m particularly pleased that the Allied Vehicles Charitable Trust can support Givin' It Laldie’s Youth Music Programme. It’s fantastic to contribute to such meaningful work in the Gorbals community."
