Family Business Top 100 Recognition For Kate Rumsey

Rumsey’s started back in 1991 with just a small catering unit at the back of Nigel Rumsey’s house with his simple aim to produce top quality products from the very finest ingredients.

Nigel and his wife, Mary, opened their first coffee shop in Wendover, Bucks, on Valentine’s Day 2004. Inspired by the film ‘Chocolat’, their aim was to provide a wonderful sumptuous environment in which to sit and drink a coffee, tea or hot chocolate whilst choosing from the wonderful selection of truffles, ganaches, pralines, creams and petit fours; each with its own distinctive flavour.

The success of this first shop led to the opening of a second chocolaterie in Thame, Oxfordshire in July 2007.

In November 2016, daughter-in-law Kate Rumsey joined the family business and launched the website and online ordering. Kate continues to work alongside Mary & Nigel to keep the business independent and within the family for (hopefully!) generation to come.
