The Global Family Business Champions

Trainee Contracts Manager

£20,000 to £25,000 per annum
England - Leicester

Thinking about starting your career or making a move into something new? This is a fantastic opportunity to learn valuable skills, gain real hands-on experience, and earn while you train.

We’re working with Bagnalls, a well-established, family-owned contractor with over 150 years of success and a strong reputation across the UK. They’re now looking for an Apprentice Management Trainee to join their team in Leicester.

You’ll benefit from a structured training programme, practical on-the-job experience, and ongoing support within a collaborative team. No prior experience is needed, just a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic. In return, you’ll have clear opportunities for long-term career progression within a business that truly invests in its people.

What you will get in your new role

  • Salary between £20,000 and £25,000 (depending on experience/qualifications)

  • Pay review every 6 months

  • Option for a company car as you progress

  • Apprenticeship in Construction Site Supervision or Project Management

  • Support to gain further qualifications, including potential university study

Responsibilities in your new role

This is a hands-on opportunity to develop skills across all aspects of managing painting and decorating contracts. You’ll be involved in customer liaison, surveying, estimating, cost control, and overseeing projects from initial enquiry through to completion and final account agreement.

With support from an experienced mentor, you’ll gain practical experience in a busy contracting environment. As you progress, you’ll have the opportunity to manage your own projects and build your own client base.

Your personality, experience and qualifications

You’ll have a minimum of five GCSEs at grades A*–C (or equivalent), including English and Maths, along with a full UK driving licence. You’ll be motivated to build a career in project or contract management, with a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service.

Strong communication, good numerical ability, and confidence using Microsoft Office are essential. You’ll be proactive, able to use your initiative, and comfortable working independently.

While not essential, any previous work experience, further education (such as AS/A2 levels), or a construction-related qualification would be beneficial.
