Apprentice Management Trainee

£20,000 to £25,000 per annum
England - Gateshead

We’re working with Bagnalls, a long-established, family-owned contractor with over 150 years of success and a strong reputation across the UK. They’re now looking for a Trainee to join their team in Gateshead.


You’ll receive structured training, hands-on experience, and ongoing support within a collaborative and experienced team. No prior experience is needed, just a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic. What you will get in your new role

  • Annual salary £20,000 to £25,000 (higher salary may be available dependent on experience/ qualifications)

  • Pay review every 6 months

  • Option for a company car as you progress within the team

  • The completion of an apprenticeship in either Construction Site Supervision or Project Management

  • Encouraged to get further qualifications with could involve going to university.


Responsibilities in your new role as an Apprentice Management Trainee

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on training across all aspects of managing major painting and decorating contracts. You’ll be involved customer liaison, surveying, estimating, cost control, and overseeing projects from initial enquiry through to completion and final account agreement.

You’ll be supported by an experienced mentor, helping you develop into the role of Trainee Contracts Manager while gaining practical, on-the job experience within a busy contracting environment. As your skills grow, you’ll have the opportunity to manage your own projects and build your own clients base.

Your personality, experience and qualifications

We’re looking for candidates with a minimum of five GCSEs at grades A* to C (or equivalent), including English and Maths, along with a full UK driving licence. You’ll demonstrate a genuine interest in developing a career in project or contract management, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality customer service. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as well as solid numerical ability and confidence using Microsoft Office. You’ll be proactive, able to use your initiative, and comfortable working independently.


While not essential, some prior work experience, training, or further education, such as AS/A2 levels or a construction-related qualification, would be advantageous.
