On Wednesday 28 October, Chancellor John Healey will stand up in Parliament to deliver his first Budget. It arrives at an unusual moment. The Prime Minister and Chancellor have been in post for little more than three months, and this will be the first full statement of their plans for tax, spending and the economy.
For family businesses, Budgets are never simply about the headlines. Decisions taken in Westminster ripple through boardrooms, kitchen tables and succession plans for years to come. The reforms to Business Property Relief and Agricultural Property Relief showed how one announcement can reshape a generation’s planning almost overnight.
