The Launch Of Thrive – The Family Business Podcast

Family Business United is delighted to celebrate the launch of THRIVE, a transformative business podcast presented by FBU members and family business, John Good Group. In this captivating series, they embark on a journey to explore the world of family-owned businesses and uncover the keys to their continued success.

Through insightful conversations with passionate entrepreneurs from across the country, they delve deep into the dynamics of passing the torch, the art of adaptation, and the pitfalls faced by family enterprises.

As Adam Walsh, CEO of John Good Group explains; "We believe that family-owned businesses possess a unique spirit that sets them apart. This podcast aims to celebrate and nurture that spirit by providing a platform for open, honest, and enlightening discussions. We go beyond the surface level to reveal the unfiltered stories and invaluable lessons that are often hidden within family circles."

"Our mission is to equip both current and future generations with the knowledge and inspiration needed to navigate the complexities of sustaining and growing a family enterprise."

"Just as a thriving plant needs nurturing, so do family-owned businesses. In each episode, we dig deep into the rich soil of experience and expertise, exploring the trials and tribulations that come with running a business across generations. By sharing candid narratives and personal anecdotes, our guests bring a level of rawness and vulnerability to the podcast that is rarely found in traditional interviews."

"The result is a thought-provoking and emotionally charged dialogue that will resonate with entrepreneurs and business enthusiasts alike."

You can join Adam and the team on this exhilarating expedition as they explore the intricacies of family-owned businesses. Each episode will unveil the secrets to thriving amidst change, unlocking the potential of the new generation, and cultivating a lasting legacy.

As Paul Andrews, Founder and CEO of Family Business United adds, "We are delighted to support Adam and the team at THRIVE with the launch of this new podcast which is a great resource for the family business community and wish them all the best with it. We look forward to listening to some captivating insights and them adding to the powerful voice of family business."

"We know that family business matters and the insights shared on the podcast will be of real value to others in their own family firms who often feel alone. It will be great to hear others share their thoughts that will clearly resonate more widely."

The first podcast to be made available is an insight from Carrs Pasties, a business based in Bolton, UK, who have been trading since 1938! A third-generation family business run and owned by 3 brothers who are transitioning the business into the next growth phase by bringing in a team of non-family Executives.

Takeaways from this episode:

  • Family values run through the brothers and the entire organisation

  • 3 brothers have a clear way of making major decisions

  • The brothers recognise their own strengths and need outside experts to fuel the next wave of growth

As Paul concludes, "Having listened to the interview with Matt it is highly recommended. It is really authentic, informative and honest and touches on numerous family business threads that will resonate with many others. Really excited for the rest of the series too."

There are plenty of ways to engage with the podcast including YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcast so keep up to date with all the latest news and access your preferred platform of choice via the John Good Group here
