Honorary New Store Opening By Tapi Carpets & Floors

Tapi Carpets & Floors are delighted to announce an honorary new store opening in Wallington, Harris Carpets & Floors. This unique new store marks the return of the Harris family name to the high street, celebrating a legacy of quality and tradition in flooring.
The honorary new store will be the only one of its kind, ran by the Tapi Carpets & Floors team and operations. It will blend generations of expertise with a modern, customer-focused experience, adding to over 210 Tapi Carpets & Floors locations nationwide.
For over 70 years, the Harris name has been synonymous with quality British flooring, beginning with Lord Harris’ father, Charles Harris, selling carpets from a market stall in Peckham, which grew with his son, Phil Harris (Lord Harris of Peckham), leading and steering both Carpetright and Tapi Carpets & Floors to national prominence.
"It is a source of immense pride to see the Harris name return to the high street in this new chapter for carpets and flooring. My family’s connection to the industry spans generations, and this store is a celebration of that heritage while embracing the future. Harris Carpets is about offering customers the same dedication to quality, value, and service that has always been at the heart of our name”, says Lord Harris, Honorary President & Director of Buying and Property at Tapi Carpets & Floors.
The Harris name is deeply rooted in Wallington; Lord Harris attended school in nearby Streatham and was a member of the Croydon Cubs. Lord Harris and his grandson, Charlie Harris, Director of Buying at Tapi Carpets & Floors, are proud to continue their family legacy and vision on the high street in the city.
Jeevan Karir, CEO of Tapi Carpets & Floors said, “We’re excited to see Harris Carpets & Floors open its doors, and incredibly proud to include the Harris name within the Tapi family. It’s a name built on trust, service, and decades of experience in helping customers find the right flooring for their homes."
"This store represents a legacy built over generations of family involvement in the flooring industry, and part of a future we’re building together. By combining heritage with ambition, we’re creating something special for the communities we serve.”
The store is set to open its doors on the 20th of September, with a grand opening event scheduled for the 27th of September, where steel bands from the Harris Federation schools will be performing at 11am alongside Lord Harris’ attendance.
A grand opening offer of 30% off all flooring will be available for customers from the 26th – 29th September.
