Future Proofing Your Family Business Management Programme Launched

ree

Family Business United is delighted to announce the launch of a new Family Business Management Programme in association with Brunel Business School's Family Enterprise Research Lab.

Our Family Business Management Programme is taking place online over 4 days in the week commencing Monday November 10, 2025 and is suitable for senior family business leaders, founders, next generation members and non-family executives working in or with family owned businesses who are seeking practical strategies to drive sustainable growth, manage generational transitions, and strengthen their business for long-term success.

Programme Overview

Family businesses form the backbone of the UK economy, yet many face critical challenges as they navigate growth, generational transitions, and a rapidly changing business environment. Future Proofing Your Family Business is a four session, fully online programme designed to give you the tools, strategies, and confidence that will enable your family business to thrive and grow.

Across interactive sessions, you will explore how to harness your family values and legacy as a source of competitive advantage, build resilience to external pressures, unlock innovation, and manage the complex dynamics between tradition and change. You will also gain practical skills in strategic leadership, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement, while also developing an actionable roadmap tailored to your business.

Delivered by Brunel Business School's Family Enterprise Research Lab in collaboration with Family Business United, this programme combines research-driven insights with hands-on exercises, peer discussions, and real-world case studies. Whether you are a founder, next-generation leader, or non-family executive, you will leave with concrete strategies and a clear plan to secure your family business's long-term success.

This session will teach you how to integrate your family vision into strategic planning, identify vulnerabilities, and design adaptive strategies that keep you competitive in an unpredictable market. Using real examples from successful UK family businesses, you will explore how to build on your unique strengths to achieve sustainable success.

Key Learning Objectives:

In this session, you will learn how to spot emerging opportunities, embrace innovation, and prepare your business for a fast-changing world. We will explore how next generation leaders can work alongside established leadership to refresh business models, introduce new ideas, and respond effectively to market shifts. Through practical frameworks and self-assessment tools, you will identify your innovation strengths and create a roadmap to future-proof your business.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Recognise the trends and disruptions shaping the future of family businesses

  • Unlock the potential of next-gen leaders to drive innovation

  • Build a tailored innovation roadmap to strengthen your competitive position

Day 3 - Strategic Leadership and Conflict Resolution: Balancing Tradition and Change

Every family business faces moments where tradition meets the need for change, and leadership decisions determine the outcome. This session will equip you with practical tools to lead confidently through transitions, resolve conflicts between family values and business needs, and engage key stakeholders for long-term success.

You will learn how to navigate competing priorities, make strategic decisions under pressure, strengthen trust across generations and teams, and develop leadership skills for managing business transitions.

In this session, you will assess your current position, explore different innovation strategies, and design a practical innovation roadmap to guide your next steps.

You will also examine a real family business case to identify opportunities, barriers, and solutions, ensuring you leave with a plan you can start implementing immediately.
