Zonal Brings HOPE To Children
7th November 2014 Paul Andrews
To commemorate its 35th year of trading, family business Zonal Retail Data Systems has announced a major partnership with national charity Hope for Children (HOPE).
For 20 years, Hope for Children (HOPE) has worked towards a world where children’s rights are realised and they can reach their full potential. The charity aims to build a sustainable future for the children and communities it serves through empowering, collaborating and learning together.
Zonal will become a Founding Partner of the new Hope for Children ‘Your Business, Their Lives’ campaign.
In Scotland, Zonal will support Hope for Children’s partner the Lothian Autistic Society. Founded in Edinburgh in 1992, Lothian Autistic Society provides services, information and practical support to individuals, families and carers affected by autism.
Further from home, the company will help fund a number of projects in India and Uganda, all aimed at bringing hope to children who have limited life opportunities.
Zonal’s 300 plus employees will be supporting the campaign with a number of fundraising events planned throughout the year including running the London Marathon.
Commenting on the partnership, Zonal’s chief executive Stuart Mclean said: “We wanted to mark our 35th year with an initiative that would make a real difference to the lives of other people. At heart, we’re still a family business, so opting for a charity that works with children was a natural fit. Our funding will support young people in Scotland and beyond who need hope for the future.”
To mark the start of the fundraising campaign, Stuart and Zonal’s Sales and marketing director Clive Consterdine visited India to see the work of Hope for Children first hand.
Stuart added: “The trip was a life changing experience that put everything into context. We’re so lucky that our children have access to healthcare, sanitation and education whereas these kids have nothing. We spent two days with the team in New Delhi who work with street children to build their self-esteem, introduce them to basic education, and provide hope in their lives. Some of the people we met were truly inspirational and real change in the lives of these children is possible with the support of Hope for Children.”
Ed Fletcher, business development manager at Hope for Children said: “We’re delighted to have Zonal on board as a Founding Partner of our ‘Your Business, Their Lives’ campaign which aims to connect businesses, both at management and employee level, with the work their fundraising efforts are supporting. As Stuart and Clive saw for themselves, through HOPE they are going to make a real and sustainable difference to children’s lives.”
