FLAGSHIP EVENTS
Since our inception Family Business United has been hosting events to bring the family business community together, online and in person, to learn, network and benefit from the collective knowledge of our global community. Many of these events are now firmly established within the annual family business calendar and play an important part in developing our growing community, helping those involved in running a family business appreciate that they are not alone and that others have been through, or are in the process of going through, similar challenges to the ones they are facing themselves.
We like to do things do things differently too and as well as inviting the community to come to our events, we also like to get out and about, to keep in touch with the ‘real world of family business’ and to meet the owners in their place of work, where the family business magic comes to life and the family business narrative shines through. Factory tours, behind the scenes insights and personal conversations add to the flavour of the events too and we are privileged to be invited into family businesses and to share their journeys. It’s part of what makes our community special. It helps us to put family businesses on the map and to amplify the family business voice too.
We are always looking to develop new ways to help the family business come together at these flagship events too. All of our flagship events are included within the full event calendar which is regularly updated too.

The Great British Family Business Conference
Our national conference that brings the family business community together to share, network and learn. A key event in the family business calendar where family firms share their journeys, the challenges they have faced and how they have dealt with them along the way.

A powerful day where delegates leave invigorated and inspired having met their peers, listened and learned. Our speakers are inspirational and the event is a must for anyone involved in the family business sector too.

The Family Business Road Trip
Each year we undertaken a number of Family Business Road Trips which really do put family businesses on the map. A car is provided by a family business, sponsors are signed up, and we hit the road to get behind the scenes of family firms the length and breadth of the country. Nothing is more inspirational than touring a family business with a family member doing what they do where they do it!
Each visit is different but tends to involve a tour, pictures for use on social media and an interview that is turned into a feature piece for FBU. Each Road Trip engages with family businesses in a way that simply celebrates what each business does, individually and collectively and provides a fantastic opportunity to profile and celebrate the sector too.

Scottish Family Business Week
Taking place in the Autumn each year we spend a week hosting various events as part of Scottish Family Business Week. Events include family business visits, interviews, networking events and an annual family business dinner.
The Global Family Business Summit
Born during the pandemic, The Global Family Business Summit is an online programme of webinars and masterclasses that takes place in the Autumn, bringing together a collection of leading experts and family business owners to share their perspectives via an online platform. Not only does the programme bring together leading experts from all corners of the world, the audience is global too. Sessions range from legacy to governance, succession to pillars for success with masterclasses, discussions and personal journeys.
The Family Business of the Year Awards
We have been celebrating the very best of British family businesses with the UK’s only national family business awards programme for over 10 years. The awards recognise exceptional family businesses, large and small, young and multi-generational from all corners of the UK and all sectors of the economy. Additional awards are given for areas of excellence such as entrepreneurship, innovation, community engagement and sustainability, and ultimately, one family business Is crowned the Supreme Champion.
These awards are described as ‘unlike any others’ because of their authenticity and the way that they bring the family business community to celebrate, network and give them time to reflect on what they have done over the years. Each year we discover some incredible family businesses and it is a pleasure to host and celebrate with them and to give national recognition for their achievements.
