Bringing the family business community together

The Family Business Philanthropy Prize

1st August 2019 Paul Andrews

Family businesses are a real force for good across the UK and the inaugural Family Business Philanthropy Prize seeks to celebrate the activities of family firms in this area.

The Family Business Philanthropy Prize has been introduced by Family Business United as a way to celebrate and give recognition to all of the endeavours to support charitable activities undertaken by family firms across the UK.

Family firms are undoubtedly a force for good and philanthropic endeavours make a real difference to the charities involved, but can also be a powerful force within a family firm too.

As Paul Andrews, Founder and CEO of Family Business United explains, "We appreciate that for many family firms philanthropy is just something that they do and little is sought in terms of recognition but family businesses around the UK do such amazing things that we feel they should be recognised."

"The Family Business Philanthropy Prize is open to family businesses of all sizes and sectors and the judges will be looking at the nature of the activity and its impact when deliberating – whether it is a donation to a project from fundraising activities, donating time and resources in the local community or supplying the kit to the local sports team," adds Paul

"We are seeking entries, using the enclosed form that come from all over the UK and provide the judges with a difficult task in identifying three finalists in each category," concludes Paul

Finalists will be invited to a reception where prizes will be awarded to firms in the following categories:

People, International, Environment & Conservation, Local Community, The Arts, Health & Welfare and Animals.

An overall winner will also be announced that will take home The Family Business Philanthropy Prize.

Nominations may now be submitted prior to the closing deadline of October 31, 2019 and the entry form can be downloaded using the red download button below.
