Somerset Pub In Search For New Tenant

25th May 2019 Paul Andrews

St Austell Brewery has announced the acquisition of the Bridge Inn in Dulverton and is on the hunt for a new tenant to take on the popular 19th Century country pub, in Exmoor National Park.

The Bridge Inn will officially become part of the Brewery’s tenanted estate from July, but having already exchanged contracts, the Brewery is now looking for a tenant to manage this well-known pub on the River Exe.

Steve Worrall, Retail Director, St Austell Brewery, said: “We’re delighted to add the Bridge Inn to our tenanted pub estate - a fantastic property and our first in Exmoor National Park. Having been managed so well for over twelve years by Kenny and Rachel McDonald, the Bridge Inn is a wonderful opportunity for somebody who wants a new challenge, running a successful pub in a stunning location."

“Our tenancy agreement provides people with the opportunity to take on a successful business that is at the centre of the local community, as well as attracting guests from far and wide. The Bridge Inn also benefits from being in one of the most beautiful locations in the UK - a great place to live & work. Naturally, it can be hard work, but our tenancies are ideal for those with a passion for hospitality and a strong head for business.”

The Bridge Inn comes with three-bedroom accommodation in the heart of Dulverton, a small town known as the southern gateway to Exmoor and located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

In 2018, St Austell Brewery was named the UK’s best tenanted pub company for the sixth time in a row by the tenants themselves. The annual M&C Allegra (MCA) Tenant Track survey interviews more than 1,200 pub tenants and lessees operating within 13 different pub companies across the country.
