Bringing the family business community together

Alternative Management & Ownership Models

Date: 7th November 2017 Price: £0

The next Greater Manchester Family Business Association is taking place at Robinson's Brewery and will look at alternative management and ownership structures for family firms.

The next event focuses on alternative management and ownership structure options. We will be hearing from two incredible family businesses; one where family retained ownership but appointed a non family member as CEO and one which transitioned to an alternative structure via an employee ownership model.

Mark Adlestone OBE DL - Beaverbrooks the Jewellers

Beaverbrooks the Jewellers have been a family run business since 1919, and still hold those family values close to their hearts today. Their passion and expertise has been passed down through generations, and is still the main focus of how Beaverbrooks do things today.

The Beaverbrooks journey is fascinating and Mark will be taking us through his experiences as a family member in the business as well as the appointment of Anna Blackburn, CEO, onto the family board.

Steve Parfett - Parfetts Cash & Carry

Parfetts Cash & Carry is a name that is renowned amongst retailers and caterers throughout the North West. The company structure underwent a major change in 2008, moving towards becoming an employee owned business with 55% of the shares sold by the Parfett family to the Employee Ownership Trust on behalf of all the staff.

Steve will be talking about how the company underwent its re-structure and the reasons for Employee Ownership.
