O'Donovan Sets New Standards Of Compliance

27th November 2017 Paul Andrews

O’Donovan continues to set industry standards by becoming the first waste management company in the UK to employ online compliance software SilkThread®

O’Donovan’s business-wide commitment to excellence has seen a substantial investment of time and resources into technological innovation, continually setting new standards for fleet safety and best practice.

With five depots, 160 staff members and 90 HGVs, maintaining a comprehensive view of operations and compliance is vital.  The SilkThread® software enables managers across the business to access checks and information in one central place ensuring records are kept completely up to date.

“Keeping abreast of ever increasing legislation can be a full time job in itself,” says O’Donovan’s Lee Hayhow.  “This software simplifies a system which could otherwise be daunting and makes sure all audit information is up to date and easily accessible.”

Family run company O’Donovan is widely regarded as a champion for health and safety, training and environmental excellence therefore it is natural that company has employed SilkThread® Health & Safety module – another industry first.

The module provides O’Donovan with the ability not only to self-audit but also ensure there are no gaps in their Health and Safety systems.  Self-auditing also has the advantage of improving knowledge and ownership of this vital area.

“We pride ourselves on our professionalism and our exacting standards in all areas of the business,” says Lee.  “Utilising SilkThread® ensures that O’Donovan consistently achieves these standards and helps us look for new ways to raise the benchmark.”

Ruth Waring FCILT, Labyrinth’s MD and co-creator of SilkThread® added: “Labyrinth is delighted that O’Donovan has made such a great start with the SilkThread® O Licence and Health & Safety modules. O’Donovan is an acknowledged industry leader in transport compliance across the challenging London construction sector and adding a self-audit dimension will only add to their existing high standing. Like Labyrinth, O’Donovan has won a number of awards for its pioneering approach and we feel that this is a significant and hugely beneficial partnership for both companies”.
